01. なまはげ柴灯まつりとは？

皆さん、突然ですが「ナマハゲ」と聞いて何を思い浮かべますか？ おそらく多くの方が、大晦日の夜に「泣く子はいねがー！」と家々を回る姿を想像されるでしょう。しかし、今回ご紹介する「なまはげ柴灯（せど）まつり」は、それとは一味も二味も違います。

毎年2月の第2金・土・日の3日間、秋田県男鹿市の真山（しんざん）神社で開催されるこのお祭りは、900年以上続く神事「柴灯祭（さいとうさい）」と、民俗行事「ナマハゲ」が組み合わさった、冬の男鹿を代表する一大イベントです。

神事としての気高さ

暗闇に包まれた雪の境内で、真っ赤に燃え上がる柴灯火。その火の粉が舞い上がる中、松明（たいまつ）を掲げたナマハゲが雪山から一斉に下りてくる「下山」のシーンは、まさに圧巻。私がYouTube活動を始めた2022年から、毎年欠かさずカメラを向けている理由が、この瞬間の「画面越しでも伝わる神々しさ」にあるんです。

今、男鹿は秋田県内……いや、日本中から注目を浴びる「革命の地」へと生まれ変わっています。かつての静かな港町は、今やバイタリティ溢れる挑戦者たちが集う場所となりました。

男鹿駅を改装して誕生した酒蔵。代表の岡住修兵社長は、新政酒造の佐藤社長にFacebookで直談判して採用されたという熱い逸話の持ち主。その情熱は秋田のビジネスシーンを震わせ、今や男鹿に若者を呼び戻し、街をデザインする「改革者」そのものです。

私が心奪われたのは、クラフトサケ「花風（かふう）」。グレープフルーツのような爽やかな果実味と、さっぱりとした酸味。最高に贅沢な体験が男鹿駅前で待っています。

  • ■男鹿駅からのアクセス：お酒を楽しみたい方や車がない方は、男鹿駅からの有料シャトルバスも便利です。移動手段の一つとして検討してください。
  • ■スノーブーツ必須：足元は雪広場。カチカチに凍った地面はスニーカーでは危険です。必ずスノーブーツで。
  • ■チケット死守：海外人気爆発中のため、完売前に必ず公式サイトをチェック！
  • ■帰りの食事は？：お祭り終了後、シャトルバス移動、車、電車移動すると、周辺のお店はほぼ閉店状態。事前にお店の閉店時間チェック。お祭り男は毎年幸楽苑!!

01. What is the Namahage Sedo Festival?

When you hear the word “Namahage,” what comes to mind? Many of you likely imagine them roaming from house to house on New Year’s Eve shouting, “Are there any crying children?” However, the “Namahage Sedo Festival” we are introducing today is something entirely different.

Held annually for three days on the second Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of February at Shinzan Shrine in Oga City, Akita Prefecture, this festival is a major winter event that combines the 900-year-old “Sedo Festival” (Shinto ritual) with the “Namahage” folk tradition.

The Dignity of a Sacred Ritual

Sedo fires blazing bright red in a snow-covered precinct shrouded in darkness. The scene of the Namahage descending from the snowy mountain holding torches is truly awe-inspiring. Since I started my YouTube journey in 2022, the reason I haven’t missed capturing this event is because of the divine atmosphere that can be felt even through a screen.
